From 1 May 2018, members attending FORS Practitioner workshops will be able to claim Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours for each workshop attended. Attending a single FORS Practitioner workshop will be worth 2.5 CPD hours. The recent CPD certification of the workshops by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) means that FORS members will benefit further from attending FORS Professional training.
FORS supports and encourages professional development through the requirements of the FORS Standard by offering its members an ongoing programme of personal development that uses a combination of theoretical, eLearning, practical and on the job training. This is to ensure that drivers and managers have the knowledge, skills and attitude to operate safely, efficiently and with consideration for the environment.
Attending the FORS Practitioner workshops from now on will not only help you to demonstrate your professional development to FORS, it will also help you build your CPD hours.
CPD hours are relevant to FORS members regardless of CILT(UK) membership. The hours can be used to add value to appraisals, job interviews and, if applicable, count towards CPD plans for other organisations and professional bodies. CILT(UK) asks its members to achieve 35 CPD hours a year which can be tracked through the My CILT area of the members’ website. CPD hours can be accrued through events and learning opportunities like the FORS Practitioner workshop and other CILT(UK) events and development activities.
If members need proof of attendance to FORS Practitioner workshops, records can be checked on the FORS Professional training register.
